Rough Drafts for Essay 3

Hi all -

Remember that the assignment sheet for essay 3 is on D2L. You can write an outline or start your rough draft as your blog post. It's up to you and how you like to start the drafting process. However, your grade will depend on your engagement with the activity.
Thanks!

Blog journals

Hi everyone -

Some of you have asked about the due date for the blogs. You may have until Tuesday evening (midnight) to complete the blogs and comment on a peer's blog (for this week only). However, since you're working on your drafts, hopefully you won't wait until the last minute! This extension of the deadline is only because of Labor Day. Starting next week, we will  be back to the original schedule of blogs being due on Sunday evenings by midnight and comments due Tuesday evenings by midnight.

Also, all of your grades thus far are posted on D2L. If you have any questions or concerns with that, just email me. **If you did not email me to discuss your persona text, you receive a 0 for that assignment. This was due on September 4th.

Analysis

Hi everyone! The Lindsay Lohan link is at the bottom of the blog, in case you want to look at it again sometime this weekend. We'll be analyzing it in relation to the texts that we worked on Wednesday and what we read for Monday.

Also, you may want to consider this quote from Patricia Hampl after you read her text: "Memoir is not what happened (if we’re lucky, that’s the best journalism). It is what has happened over time, in the mind, in the life as it attends to these tantalizing, dismaying, broken bits of life history. Such personal writing is, as the essay is, ‘an attempt.’ It is a try at the truth. The truth of a self in the world."

How to Create Your Blog

Class - Here are all the instructions for creating a blog.  Just click on the link above. If you don't have a G-Mail account, you'll need to create one. It's really fast and easy, and you don't have to use it for other emails.

Make sure to e-mail me a link to your blog after it's created, and I will add you to my blogroll so your classmates can view your blog.

Welcome!

Hi class!

I’m excited that we can explore our online identities together, as I think the web is a vital aspect of communication. As we work through our readings, remember to pick out things that strike you as odd, funny, interesting, confusing, angering, or something you just really enjoyed or connected with. Your blog is your own personal space to work out these observations and turn them into analyses. Remember to maintain appropriate conduct and language in your site and your peers’ sites as you are writing. Good luck, and I look forward to reading your work!!
